Founder

Dr. Michael Lender founded Orange Veterinary Hospital in 1974. His mission was to offer the highest level of veterinary medicine and compassionate care for your pets. Today, this mission is furthered by Dr. Marc DiBerardino & Dr. Alex Alfaro.

Whether your dog or cat needs routine or emergency care, our staff is available for your pet 24/7. Our Head Technician, Amanda Sheran, joins Dr. DiBerardino & Dr. Alfaro along with our knowledgeable, caring, and committed support staff.

Doctor

Dr. DiBerardino joined Orange Veterinary Hospital in 1994 when he began his career as a veterinary technician. After eight years, he decided to attend the University of Florida School of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, he returned to Orange Veterinary Hospital, where he holds the position of Head Veterinarian. He is a graduate of Amity Regional Senior High school, Washington and Jefferson College, and the University of Florida School of Veterinary Medicine. His focus is on preventative medicine and surgical care of dogs, cats, and pocket pets. In his free time, Dr. DiBerardino enjoys writing and performing music. He is an avid reader and a baseball fan. He currently resides in Ansonia with his wife, three sons, three dogs, and three cats.

Alex Alfaro
Dr. Alfaro

Doctor 

Dr. Alex Alfaro has been Practicing for 10 years. He has completed his training at the University of Wisconsin. He enjoys helping clients get the most out of their relationships with their pets. Dr. Alex’s interests include shelter medicine, and he enjoys working with the West Haven Animal Shelter. In his free time, Dr. Alex likes gardening, watching sports, learning the guitar, and spending time with his own pets.

Dr. Michelle Salas has been Practicing for 4 years. She has completed her training at Purdue University, College of Veterinary Medicine. As a veterinarian, she prioritizes open, compassionate communication with her clients, believing that their understanding of their pet’s health is essential to make informed decisions. Alongside her passion for client communication, she is deeply invested in preventative care, shelter medicine, and surgery. Her goal is to ensure every patient entrusted to me lives a long, happy, and healthy life. Outside of work, Dr. Salas enjoys cooking, traveling, working out, volunteering in shelters, and reading.

Practice Manager

Amanda is Orange Veterinary Hospital’s Practice Manager. Amanda grew up on a farm in Blandford, Massachusetts. She moved to Connecticut and attended Quinnipiac University, graduating with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She has been with Orange Veterinary Hospital since 2005, and in her spare time Amanda likes to hike with her dog, Delilah.
